Thousands of dispatchers worldwide launched their careers at TAS. Here are some of their stories.

TAS gave me the foundation I needed to pass both the written and oral/practical ADX exams on my first attempt. The instructors have real airline experience — they don't just teach theory, they teach you how it works on the floor.

About TAS

A Legacy of Excellence Since 1982

Technical Aviation Services (TAS) was founded on March 3, 1982, in Miami, Florida — and for over 44 years has been setting the global standard in FAA aircraft dispatcher education, training thousands of professionals across 20+ countries.

Our Story

Born in Miami. Trusted worldwide.

Mr. Alberto Alberty
Mr. Alberto Alberty
Founder, TAS (1982)

The Legacy of Mr. Alberto Alberty

Founded on March 3, 1982, in Miami, Florida, Technical Aviation Services (TAS) was the vision of aviation pioneer Mr. Alberto Alberty, whose remarkable career spanned nearly every facet of aviation. Throughout his lifetime, he served as a Navy Navigator, military flight navigator, flight engineer, airline captain, air traffic controller, FAA Aircraft Dispatcher, airline instructor, and aviation consultant.

Driven by a passion for aviation education, Mr. Alberty established TAS to provide real-world, professional training that would prepare future generations of aviation professionals for successful careers in airline operations. His commitment to operational excellence and uncompromising standards quickly earned TAS an international reputation for excellence.

In 2016, just six months before his passing, Mr. Alberty entrusted his life's work to Luis Guerrero, one of his former students and an accomplished aviation professional. By transferring ownership of TAS, he ensured that his vision, values, and commitment to world-class aviation training would continue for generations to come.

Today, more than four decades later, TAS proudly honors Mr. Alberty's legacy as the World's Oldest FAA Aircraft Dispatcher School, continuing to train aviation professionals with the same passion, integrity, and pursuit of excellence that inspired its founding.

Luis Guerrero
Luis Guerrero
Owner & Chief Instructor

The Journey of Luis Guerrero

Luis Guerrero began his aviation career in 2001 while earning a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology in New York. He also completed his flight training, developing a strong foundation in aviation operations.

His career began with Piper Aircraft, working as an engineer on the Malibu aircraft program and contributing to the development of the Honda Jet prototype. In 2009, Luis earned his FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate at TAS, launching a career in airline operations, serving as FAA Aircraft Dispatcher and Loadmaster at Avianca Cargo, dispatching international flights across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

As part of the founding teams of multiple airlines, Luis helped develop operational procedures, dispatch systems, and airline control centers. In 2023, as part of the founding team, he became Director of SOC at 7 Air Cargo, overseeing dispatch, flight following, operational control, and crew scheduling.

Today, Luis remains an active FAA Aircraft Dispatcher and Airline Training Specialist (ATS) Instructor at one of Miami's leading cargo airlines. His expertise includes ETOPS/EDTO, international flight operations, advanced flight planning, Operations Control Centers (OCC/SOC), EWINS, aircraft dispatch, and loadmaster operations. As President of TAS and Chief Instructor, he is committed to preparing the next generation of aviation professionals.

FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification Course

Choose the program format that fits your experience and schedule
The ADX (Aircraft Dispatcher Knowledge) Exam is fully integrated into our curriculum. Students are NOT required to complete the ADX before enrolling or studying independently, making the certification process more structured and efficient. Unlike traditional schools, TAS operates on a rotating subject schedule, allowing students to enroll whenever a new subject begins instead of waiting for a full class to start.
TAS provides 220 hours of training, exceeding the FAA's 200-hour minimum requirement. We believe exceptional dispatchers are developed by going beyond the minimum standards, preparing our graduates to enter the airline industry with confidence and professionalism.

FAQ

Common questions

Everything you need to know before enrolling at TAS.

Will I train using real airline systems?
Yes. TAS students train using many of the same systems used by today's airlines, including Jeppesen, Boeing Flight Planning Solutions, Professional Planning System (PPS), NAVBLUE, E-Loadsheet, weather analysis tools, flight following software, and our full airline-style Dispatch Simulator. Our goal is to prepare you for your first day at an airline—not just help you pass the FAA exams.
What is an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher?
An FAA Aircraft Dispatcher is a licensed aviation professional who shares legal operational responsibility with the Captain for every flight. Dispatchers plan routes, analyze weather, calculate fuel, monitor flights, and ensure safe and efficient airline operations.
Do I need previous aviation experience?
No. Our program is designed for beginners and aviation professionals alike. We teach everything from the ground up, and our instructors guide you every step of the way.
How long is the course?
Our FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification Course can be completed in as little as 8 weeks for new and inexperienced professionals, 5½ weeks for experienced professionals, or 13 to 15 weeks for those with busy schedules. Hybrid training is also available, with the last two weeks completed in person at our Miami Airport base.
What makes TAS different from other schools?
TAS is the World's Oldest FAA Aircraft Dispatcher School (Since 1982) and the only FAA-approved school where students train in a real airline-style Operations Control Center using professional dispatch software, Jeppesen, Boeing flight planning systems, and a full Dispatch Simulator.
Are your instructors active airline professionals?
Yes. Unlike many schools, our instructors are active FAA Aircraft Dispatchers and Airline Training Specialists who bring current airline procedures, real operational scenarios, and today's systems directly into the classroom.
Do I need to pass the ADX exam before enrolling?
No, No, No! It does not make any sense to make you do such an exam without any prior training, much less to ask you or make you remember answers that mean nothing to you. The FAA ADX Knowledge Test is included as part of our course. We prepare you for the exam during training, so there is no need to complete it beforehand and you take it at the end of our course after we all as a group study and pass many practice exams.
What jobs can I get after graduation?
Most students land a rewarding job within 2 to 4 weeks of graduating — some are even hired before they finish the course and transfer straight into a dispatch role once training is complete. TAS has global industry connections and we actively support you through that process. Graduates commonly work as an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher, Flight Follower, Flight Operations Officer, Operations Controller, Crew Scheduler, or in Airline Operations Coordination or Management. Many are hired by passenger airlines, cargo airlines, charter operators, corporate flight departments, and even private aircraft owners.
How much do aircraft dispatchers earn?
Starting salaries commonly range from $70,000–$90,000+ per year, with experienced dispatchers at major airlines often earning well into six figures, depending on the airline and location.
